Frédéric Boucheron began his career in the mid-19th century as an apprentice at the Parisian atelier Deschamps, before opening his own house in 1858. His workshop became known for its lacy gold metalwork, engraved diamonds, and delicate plique-à-jour enameling. In 1876, the French government presented Frédéric Boucheron with a Legion of Honor award for his jewellery. In 1893, Frédéric Boucheron became the first jeweler to move to Place Vendôme.

Throughout the 20th century, the house continued to innovate—most notably popularizing the detachable dress clips of the 1930s–40s and the sculptural, voluminous forms of the Retro era. Today, Boucheron remains synonymous with uncompromising craftsmanship, drawing on its historic vocabulary of carved multicolored stones, geometric structures, tassels, and supple mesh while evolving these signatures for contemporary collectors.
