Antique Etruscan revival gold bracelet, France

Antique Etruscan revival gold bracelet, France

An articulated antique gold bracelet in the Etruscan style with applied wirework and granulation centering on a hexagonal foliate ornament, in 18k. France, original box.

During the last half of the nineteenth-century European and American jewelers were inspired by the ancient Etruscan, Greek, and Roman jewelry being excavated across the continent. The rediscovery of these stunning works of art created a surge of interest in ancient gold working techniques, and expert jewelers of the day started producing pieces influenced by these discoveries.

Etruscan Revival pieces are especially prized by today’s collectors both for their easy wearability and artistic value, and excellent examples are found in museums collections the world over.
