Art Deco chrysoprase, onyx, and gold bracelet

Art Deco chrysoprase, onyx, and gold bracelet

An Art Deco bracelet comprised of square gold rectangular links attached to alternating sugarloaf onyx segments and chrysoprase discs by double-banded gold spacers, in 18k.

Sugarloaf cabochons are a wonderful variation on the traditional cabochon
shape. A sugarloaf, like all cabochons, has a smooth, polished
surface and no facets, utilizing some of the most ancient cutting techniques. Sugarloaf cabochons have a four-sided, domed pyramidal shape, which optimizes the natural colors of a variety of colored stones.
The stone cut is presumably named after the form in which refined sugar was usually produced and sold until the mid-19th century when it became available in cubes and granulated form.
