An Italian neo-classical carved and painted hall bench with original decoration.  The stepped back with swagged laurel wreath crest above a central roman portrait medallion and crossed boughs within a guilloche border, padded arms and upholstered seat on six legs.

A pair of William IV oak window benches, each with spool end rails on baluster supports, above a plain frieze flanked by shaped panels painted with the crest of a griffin with the motto 'syn/AF/dy/myn' for the Wilkins family.

An extremely rare set of four hall benches, each stamped

Fine Regency giltwood and painted upholstered X-frame stool with griffin head monopodia supports, bundled reed clasp and paw feet, based on a design by Thomas Hope.   This stool is based on the design in Thomas Hope's 'Household Furniture and Interior Decoration' plate 12 no.4. See illustration. For a similar example with lions head monopodia see 'The History of English Furniture' by Percy MacQuoid, The Age of Satinwood, Putnam's Sons, New York, 1908; figure 237 .

Fine pair of Regency style ebony-inlaid  mahogany Klismos benches in the manner of Thomas Hope. The highly figured veneer to the S-curved arms, seatrail and splayed legs inlaid with stylized flowerhead and anthemion decoration.  A very similar design using lion paw feet can be found in Hope's

A good George II large upholstered padouk wood  roll-arm window bench raised on lion-mask carved cabriole legs ending in hairy paw feet; probably Irish.   A settee, with nearly identical legs, is illustrated as plate 74 in

George II style mahogany foot stool, the needlework top depicting a farmer and wife, on cabriole legs.
